Michelle's philosophies and skills align perfectly with the approach to patient care here at Mount Nittany Health Fit for Play. She enjoys applying her manual therapy skills, spending time with patients, and providing outstanding customer service to all patients.

Michelle became a Physical Therapist so she could build a career around helping people feel better. Manual therapy is a key component of Michelle’s philosophy of care, her hands are her greatest tools.

In order to provide the best possible patient care, Michelle is always striving for growth. She is a certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist, has level I and II certifications for Selective Functional Movement Assessment and enjoys staying current and expanding her skill set through continuing education courses. She also values sharing her knowledge by mentoring students.

Michelle resides in her hometown, State College, with her husband, daughter and pet dog. Michelle earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree from Slippery Rock University. She met her husband while earning her BS in Biology degree from Penn State Behrend, where they both ran on the cross country team.

After graduating from State College Area High School, Michelle left the area and has spent time living in Erie, HI, NY and Scranton. Her beautiful daughter was born in 2015, which prompted the Ruffo family to return to Happy Valley. Spending time with family and friends, running, swimming, biking or simply being outdoors are her favorite activities.



I've run the Boalsburg Memorial Day race every year since I was in 5th grade. Never missed one!


Born and raised in State College. I would have never guessed 10 years ago I'd move back home after school.


Adopted my dog when I was in PT school even though every person in my life advised me not too.
